Leiv K. Sydness

Prof. Dr. Leiv K. Sydnes' research is focused on organic synthesis, with a particular emphasis on cyclopropane chemistry, photochemistry, and the development of synthetic methodologies. This has led to the discovery of several new transformations and new applications of well-established reagents. Many of the problems he has investigated in recent years are related to the preparation of biologically active molecules, such as Rumphellatin A and its analogues, which he continues to explore in collaboration with colleagues at other research institutions. As part of a national priority program on bioprospecting, he has also focused on synthetic challenges related to Protectin D1 and its analogues. Additionally, he is involved in research on MRI contrast agents in collaboration with GE Healthcare.
