Aleš IGLIČ
Aleš Iglič was first employed at the Institute of Biophysics of the Faculty of Medicine (MF) of UL, and since 1991 he has been employed at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of UL, where in 1999 he founded the Laboratory of Physics, which he also heads. He is also employed at the Faculty of Medicine of the UL, Department of Orthopaedics. He has been a visiting researcher or professor in Finland, Germany, the Czech Republic and Italy. The research work of Prof. Iglič and colleagues has contributed, among others, to the development of theoretical methods in the field of physics, mechanics and electrostatics of strongly curved surfaces and the physics of interactions of nanoparticles in electrolyte solutions with electrospun nanostructured surfaces. His research work also extends to other experimental and theoretical areas of the physics of organic and inorganic nanostructures, and his development work is in the field of biomedical engineering, covering surface modification of orthopaedic implants and vascular splints, synthesis and processing of novel nanostructured particles, isolation of extracellular vesicles, and simulations of orthopaedic interventions.
