5. december, 2018

Monday, 3 Dec 2018 – Slovenian Academy of Engineering (IAS) hosted the Nobel Laureate Prof. Duncan Haldane from Princeton University, who received the 2016 Nobel prize in Physics (together with Profs. David J. Thouless and J. Michael Kosterlitz) “for theoretical discoveries of topological phase transitions and topological phases of matter”. Prof. Haldane has Slovenian roots by his mother Ljudmila Renko, who married with a british army doctor after the 2nd WW and moved to England where Duncan was born and finished his studies.

Discussions about the current challanges in science and engineering were chaired by the vice-president of the IAS, Prof. Marko Jagodič.
